How to play Matatu

  • You can only play a card with the same suite or rank as the one before it.
  • Playing a 2 makes the next player pick 2 cards.
  • Playing a Joker makes the next player pick 5 cards.
  • Instead of picking cards, you can play a 2 or Joker to transfer the penalty to the next player.
  • You can change the current suite anytime by playing an A.
  • Playing A of Spades blocks a 2 or Joker, so you don't have to pick cards.
  • Playing 7 of the cutting suite cuts the game. The player with the least points wins.
  • You can only cut the game if your total points are less than 21.
  • Playing an 8 skips the next player's turn.
  • Playing a J reverses the order of the game.
